Why are we building?
Our current property is located at 1222 Grove Street in Paris, TN. Our building sits on approximately six acres of land. The most recent addition to our facilities was the current sanctuary and was built in 1962. At the time our church chose this location it was in a thriving neighborhood on a main road. Over time, the city chose to close off one end of the street, and now our church is not easily found. This is part of the reason we are seeking to relocate.
Also, our facilities are in need of renovation. The cost of the needed renovations is extensive and would still not allow for future expansion. Our church had planned to build a Family Life Center, however, with city codes we would be forced to pave all remaining land. This would prevent us from ever expanding our sanctuary space.
In February 2007 we purchased 15.5 acres on Highway 218 By-pass in Paris, TN. This location is within a two mile radius of our current location. This will allow us to continue ministering to the Maplewood community. The By-pass is in an area of projected growth for Paris. Our property gives us great visibility and plenty of room for our future growth. The physical address of our property is 8700 Highway 218 By-Pass. Our current master plan is designed to use nine acres of our new property.
Constructor’s for Christ
Maplewood Baptist Church is proud to be partnering with Constructor’s For Christ, a volunteer labor group that serves God by building churches! They will be with us this summer for 5 weeks, beginning June 22. It will be an exciting thing to watch God build this church through His servants who have committed their time, energy, resources and talents to serve Him!
